McAfee Identity Protection

Project: McAfee offers comprehensive device security software & services. I contributed visual UI designs to both primary & partner web sites from landing pages to the shopping cart.

Design goals: Design intuitive UI for users to encourage subscriptions.

Tools used: Figma

Deliverables: Visual/UI designs, user flows

User Scenario: Identity Protection Detection Service scan

  1. From partner location, user is taken to a co-branded site offering a free email scan.

  2. User checks if any of their online information has been compromised.

  3. WIth the results, user can learn more about and buy McAfee ID protection services, either on the product details page or by “remediation” (shopping cart.)

Baseline design & influencing factors

  • 50% of McAfee customers have been shown to use B*** as their default search engine because they do not know how to change the setting in their browser.

  • Competitive analysis: majority-if-not-all of similar “Scan for Free” services offer minimalist UI designs.

Alternate design

  • Includes statistics about data security breaches.

  • FAQ gives answers to those unsure what ID theft is and what to do about it.

Result #1: Breach found

  • User is shown the number of email data breaches, and CTA to learn more about McAfee protection services.

  • Immediate action to solve the problem; summary of McAfee® Total Protection™ service, & secondary CTA linking directly to the shopping cart.

Result 2: No breach found

  • Nothing found, but user can still learn more about McAfee protection services or run scan on a different email.

  • No matter what result, remedy information is presented with CTA directly to the shopping cart.

Alternate design

Post-scan, providing a broader view of McAfee’s protection services.
